Newly Approved Intercultural Travel Opportunities
Semester Abroad in Italy:
CHRHS students will have an opportunity to spend a semester abroad at our sister school in Genoa. To make this affordable, we will host 2-3 Italian students for a semester. In turn, the International School of Genoa will host 2-3 of our students. In order to participate, your family must be willing and able to host one of the Italian students who attend our school. Likewise, our students will be living with the Italian families who’s students attended our school. There will be no charge for tuition or room and board. The primary costs will be airfare, a visa, passport, and personal spending money.
Semester Abroad in Vietnam
For the 5th year in a row, CHRHS students will have an opportunity to spend a semester abroad at our sister school in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. To make this affordable our Sister School, the American Pacific University International School, provides significant scholarships to qualified students. CHRHS students have the option of attending APU either semester next year.
Vietnam Cultural Visit:
Camden Hills Regional HS will be working with our sister school in Ho Chi Minh City to arrange a 14 day visit to Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat, and Da Nang. This is not an exchange. Students will explore various regions of Vietnam and get a close and personal look at life in Vietnam. This cultural trip will take place a week before and over February Break, 2016. The trip coincides with the Tet Holiday which is the most important holiday in Vietnam.
Camden Hills Regional High School and the Pinewood School in Thessaloniki, Greece are partnering in an exchange program. CHRHS students will be hosted by students who attend the Pinewood School. In turn, the students who go to Greece will host students from the Pinewood School. Tentatively, the Greeks will be coming the last 2 weeks in October, 2015 and we will be going to Greece around April vacation, 2016.
Modified Scotland Exchange:
Camden Hills Regional High School and the Edinburg Academy, in Edinburg, Scotland are partnering in a modified exchange program. CHRHS students will spend two days in London, sightseeing and taking in performances, travel by train to Edinburg, visit the school and take in the historical and cultural sites. Our students will stay in a hotel in London and a very safe Youth Hostel in Edinburg. While our students are in London, they will be joining the students from Edinburg. The students who go to Scotland will host their Scottish partners. CHRHS will be going to Scotland in April, 2015 and will host the Edinburg students a year later in April, 2016.
